Biography
Iara Boubnova is a Bulgarian curator, art critic, and art historian of Russian origin. She graduated in Art History from Moscow State University and has lived and worked in Bulgaria since the 1980s. In 1995, she co-founded the Institute of Contemporary Art – Sofia, where she served as director. Her international curatorial work includes projects for the Istanbul and Moscow biennials, alongside numerous exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad. Boubnova has also taught at New Bulgarian University and Sofia University and has led curatorial workshops internationally. In 2019, she was appointed Director of the National Gallery in Sofia.

Together we hope to explore how contemporary art from the region reshapes existing perceptions, challenges stereotypes, and positions itself within the wider European and global context.
