The Little Star, 2023 (quadriptych) Oil on canvas 4 panels, 97 x 90 cm each
ArtistsThe work portrays a child playing with a weapon. I wanted an almost cinematic experience for this work, and I believe this format makes it so intimate, thoroughly examined like a picture in motion. You can almost feel the gesture, the atmosphere, and the weight of it. A slow unfolding. It’s not just an act of play, it is a moment of negotiation between innocence and an inherited relationship with power. In this context, the child as a concept of hope and futurity begins to shift in meaning. He no longer represents promise, but rather the echo of something already corrupted.Innocence becomes complicit.
