Artists

Between" is a photographic project about theatre as a process—the fragile moment before and after a performance, when the artist exists between preparation and the stage, between the role and the self. The photographs capture Bulgarian artists in these transitional states, revealing the person behind the public image. The project also reflects on the artist’s place in a contemporary cultural environment where art increasingly finds itself “between” institutions, policies, expectations and real possibilities. Yet Between is not about remaining there. It is a desire for the artist to be fully inside the process, inside culture, inside society. The project features artists such as Radina Kardzhilova, Tsvetana Maneva, Anna Papadopoulou, Iskra Donova, Yordan Radev, and others.
