I Was as a form of self-destruction, subtly touching us with its tentacles.
As if it were the eternal battle between what I WAS, what I am, and what I will be.
That inner feeling that our prime is behind us, and the destructive thought that now, “I AM NOT” what I was.
But, as philosophers say, a part of us must die in order to make room for something new — to rebuild ourselves through our past selves.
I Was is a symbolic punishment we inflict upon ourselves.
Thoughts that act like a whip, striking us again and again, while we feel powerless to stop them. The need to watch the wounds and make sure they never heal, until the pain eventually makes us numb.
Numb to I Was.
