Bee Memorial and Applied Honey Proverbs
Artists
Bee Memorial (2018-ongoing) is a series of carved stone sculptures shaped like beehives, installed across different landscapes— from a museum garden to a castle courtyard to a mountain terrace. Each siting sets the stone forms against a new terrain while holding the same idea: the beehive translated into stone becomes a marker of deep time, a memorial spanning millions of years of bee evolution into an uncertain present. Alongside the sculptures, I perform Applied Honey Proverbs, a lecture-performance in which I enact bee and honey proverbs gathered from oral traditions worldwide, turning old language back into storytelling, gesture and image.
