Biography
Stéphen Loye is a visual artist and filmmaker born in 1989 in Digne-les-Bains, France. He currently lives in Marseille. A graduate of the Cergy School of Fine Arts and holder of a DSRA (Advanced Diploma in Art Research), Stéphen Loye has exhibited his work and screened his films at numerous venues and festivals across Europe.
His work centers on the concepts of assemblage, collage, and montage. Warburg’s mnemonic approach and the cut-up technique play a fundamental role in his work. These influences enable him to create new perspectives by challenging established perceptions.
This approach based on listening and sensory immersion, combined with formal associations enables him to give voice to marginalized voices that go unheard in traditional media and mainstream cultural production, which tends to operate within an extractive framework.
